(I) Lead in (3 minutes)
Show some pictures of various trees and forests to arouse students' interest and ask
students: " What can you see in these pictures?"Guide the students to answer the trees
and forests they may see, and thus leads to the theme of this lesson. —— Use pictures to
guess the meaning of the word.
(II) Activity 1 (7 minutes)
1. Show question 1: " Where can you see so many trees?"Ask the students to
observe the picture and answer. Guide the students to say the possible places, such as
"forest", "park", etc.
2. Show question 2: " Do you think these trees have flowers?"Let the students look
at the picture again, and answer according to their own observations.
(III) Activity 2 (10 minutes)
1. Present the text: "There are lots of pine trees in Daxing'anling. They can grow
very tall. They bloom in May and June and the flowers are red." Let the students read
the text.
2. Point out the underlined word "bloom" in the text, and guide the students to
observe the picture above and think about the meaning of the word.
3. Invite the students to share the meaning of the words they guess through the
pictures, and the teacher will summarize and confirm them.
(IV) Activity 3 (5 minutes)
1. Show the pictures of the bamboo forest, And provide the relevant text: " Shunan
Bamboo Forest is in Yibin, Sichuan. It is a sea of bamboos. There are about 400
different kinds of bamboos. In summer, the bamboos grow thickly, and the forest is all
green. People can take the cable cars and have a good look at the beautiful forest."
2. Point out the underlined word "thickly" in the text, and ask the students to guess
the meaning of the picture.
3. Organize students to group discussions, exchange their guess results, and then
send representatives from each group to share.
(V) Practice and consolidation (5 minutes)
Present more pictures and short text containing the new words, and let the students
